Horndribbles Zapp and the Oogah – Oogah Nut Book
By now you know that the kids are loving their new buddies, the Horndribbles. Along with documenting our explorations this summer, we are spending time on some school work and keeping the kids sharp. Each of the kids are reading at least 15 minutes twice a day, not including our family bedtime story. This is easy since the kids love to read.
The kids were excited that they could read a book about their favorite Summer buddies that they are teaming up with. Cheyenne and Irvy are still young and love picture books or making up their own stories to books their older brother and sister have. Zapp and The Oogah – Oogah Nut book is perfect for Alexandria and Kevin to read. We started by reading the book to the kids. We then let Alexandria and Kevin read the book back to us writing down any words that they are having trouble with. We then let the kids make flash cards for all of the words that they were not able to read. They have been practicing the flash cards daily. As they go along and learn the words we remove the word card from the pile and continue to practice with the words they still need help with. Once they know all the cards, they earn a special prize.
Adventures of the Horndribbles: Zapp and the Oogah – Oogah Nut is a 40 page picture book story that follows Zapp and his friends on an adventure in Namby-Pamby Creek, where, once again, Zapp gets himself into trouble chasing his favorite food, the Oogah – Oogah nut. Lucky for Zapp, his friends work together to try to save him before he reaches the dangerous GREAT GRUMBLER FALLS!!!
The kids love acting out the book with their stuffed Horndribbles. They also love coming up with new stories of their own. The book is perfect for all four of the kids. Cheyenne and Irvy love the pictures and illustrations. The book is extremely colorful and beautifully illustrated.
