Best Gift I Received as a Child #ChosenbyKids

My parents always made sure that my sister, brother and I had the best Christmas’ we could have. In fact every year, we would get up early and open presents at our house and then head over to my God Mother’s house and open even more presents.

My sister and I are exactly 22 months apart in age. We were extremely close and liked most of the same things. After all she is my little sister and wanted to do everything I did and be just like me. My mom loved dressing us alike. We would joke that she wanted us to be twins. This made shopping for us extremely easy for our parents and other family members. We often got the same gifts just in different colors.

My sister and I had every Barbie Doll imaginable! I would get the Barbie version and my sister would always get the Teresa version because everyone thought it was cute that she had the same name as the doll. It was also an easy way for us to tell them apart. We are sisters and fighting was inevitable. Whenever my sister and I would play with our Barbie Dolls we pulled every single doll, car and piece of Barbie accessory we owned out. We didn’t care about the mess that it would make or how long it would take to put them away. Playing with our Barbies was an all day event.

One year my sister asked Santa for the Barbie Fold ‘N Fun Home, but we never told our parents that we wanted it. Whenever we would see the commercial we would be glued to the television. The Barbie aisle was always the first place we wanted to go when we were at the store. I guess our parents and “Santa” listened because sure enough that Christmas there was a Barbie Fold ‘N Fun Home under our tree! My sister and I could not believe it and could not wait to start playing with it.
